A pesar del éxito que tuvo en la pantalla chica la serie de Lucifer, basada en el tiraje de Vertigo Comics, la empresa de FOX decidió que era tiempo de su cancelación…

Durante algunos días circuló el rumor de que dicha serie podría ser cancelada debido a que decayó el número de sus espectadores, ya que en comparación con la segunda temporada, el estreno de la tercera bajó en un 20 % dentro el sector demográfico clave (18-49 años) de la audiencia en Estados Unidos.

Y para cumplir la pesadilla de sus fans, hace algunas horas su protagonista Tom Ellis, compartió directamente en su cuenta oficial de Twitter lo siguiente:

It has been the most amazing experience over the past 3 years playing Lucifer and falling in love with you, the fans. It fills me with great sadness to confirm the rumours that some of you have been asking. Fox has indeed cancelled #lucifer I’m so sorry guys. #gutted

“Ha sido la experiencia más increíble de los últimos tres años interpretar a Lucifer y enamorarme de ustedes, los fans. Me da mucha tristeza confirmar los rumores que algunos de ustedes han estado comentando. Fox ha cancelado Lucifer, lo siento, muchachos”

Tom no fue el único en mostrar su descontento, ya que Lesley-Ann Brandt (Mazikeen en la serie), también tenía algunas cosas que decir sobre la cancelación en su cuenta de  Instagram:

For the last 3 years I’ve had the privilege of working on Lucifer with some of the most incredible people in this industry. We literally had a “no asshole” policy. I’ve grown up on this show. Married my husband during season 1, found out I was pregnant on season 2 and had my son season 3. Being your Mazikeen has been so very special to me for so many reasons. Playing this fiercely strong yet vulnerable, pansexual demon, has been my honor. To discover on a weekly basis, just how much a character like her, who looks like me, means to so many out there, has made my heart swell. I read your messages and fan mail and I’ve loved getting to know you as we tweet every Monday. I will miss that. To the fans, you’re incredible. Truly. You took us from a pilot to a series and a pick up not once, but three times. I’m incredibly sad we don’t get to give you another season because I truly feel there’s so much story left to tell. Thank you for your support, your constructive criticism and for giving us three wonderful years together. 🙏🏾 To my incredible cast mates, my family. I love each and everyone of you and while we will all go on to our next project, this time with you has been a career highlight for me. I started a family all while working and loving on my Lucifer family. I’ll be seeing you all…A LOT! Por su parte, el productor Joe Henderson pidió a los fans mostrar su apoyo para que FOX reconsiderara su decisión, e incluso invitó después de esto a usar el Hashtag #SaveLucifer para causar revuelo en redes sociales.

So… yeah. #Lucifer has been cancelled. And it fucking HURTS. I loved this show so damn much and everyone put their heart and soul into it. Heartbreaking doesn't begin to describe.

“Así que sí. Lucifer ha sido cancelada y, maldición, duele. Amé demasiado este show. Todos pusieron su corazón y alma en él. Decir que tengo el corazón roto no describe lo que siento”

El apoyo de los fans a la serie no tardó en posicionar el hashtag #SaveLucifer como el top trending en Twitter:

Sin duda es una noticia que duele a muchos fans tanto de la serie como de sus cómics, sin embargo, esperamos que el apoyo que se ha manifestado ayude a cambiar la decisión de FOX.
