Omorphia and the Moon Pool returns to Kickstarter with a new issue – Come check it out!

00As we have always said at C506, Kickstarter is a wonderful world, where we discover wonderful projects. Today we want to introduce you to Omorphia and the Moon Pool #2. We invite you to continue with us on this incredible journey!

First of all, what is Omorphia and the Moon Pool?

To answer this, there is no one better than Trevor Markwart himself, creator of this comic!

Omorphia and the Moon Pool is a «weird fiction» comic set in 1930’s New England. It combines the world of H.P. Lovecraft with other great pulp fiction authors of the era to tell a tale that draws on such great classic works in the genre as The King in Yellow and The Great God Pan. It’s a very accessible comic and readers don’t even have to be familiar with those stories to follow along for the adventure.

Omorphia is young lady studying archeology at Miskatonic University. An orphan, through good fortune she has inherited wealth and is using it finance the department at the school, and to fund unusual excavations around the world. She finds herself drawn into the world of both the occult and Cosmic Horror as a wave of murder and madness sweeps the campus, and she finds herself a target of sinister and mysterious forces.

Now, let’s talk about what will happen in this new issue!

In this second issue to the sequel to H.P. Lovecraft’s Beauty and the Beast, a triangle of Weird Forces have encircled archaeology student Omorphia, not only threatening the sanity and lives of the population of 1930’s New England, but also drawing the world towards the brink of war.

As was seen in the first issue, the unexpected inheritance that Omorphia received after the bizarre death of the deformed occultist known only as The Beast, enabled her to finance a revitalization of Miskatonic University’s archaeology and anthropology departments, and to fund far-reaching scientific expeditions far beyond the realm of conventional science.

But the first expedition to Baffin Island, led by her mentor Professor Morgan, has ended in tragedy. Along with the discovery of a duplicate «moon pool» — an exact copy of the infamous moon pool reported by A. Merritt in the ill-fated 1918 expedition to the Caroline Islands of the South Seas — came the bizarre deaths of some of the expedition, madness for others, and sightings of strange beings.

What happens in issue #2 ? I don’t want to give away any spoilers. Not any more than the cover already hints at — so I guess that’s one spoiler. But it is going to be more of the same thick slice of vintage Weird Fiction, filled with twists and turns, and drawing upon the works of some of the great foundations of modern genre books and film: A. Merritt’s The Moon Pool, the infamous  King in Yellow by Robert Chambers, H.P. Lovecraft’s mythos and, with issue #2, Arthur Machen’s The Great God Pan. And that’s another spoiler. You’ll have to read it to find out how that fits in.
