Black Dragon Press x Mondo: BREATHLESS poster

This week we have news about Mondo, another collaboration with legends across the pond, Black Dragon Press: BREATHLESS by Yuko Shimizu.

As one of the defining films of the French New Wave, Jean-Luc Godard’s BREATHLESS is boundlessly cool. It’s an ode to American gangster, hard-boiled storytelling, and is punk in just about every way. The film simultaneously destroyed the traditional filmmaking norms of the time, while rebuilding new ideas with a fresh voice. If you haven’t seen it, Criterion has an amazing edition that you should check out.

Yuko Shimizu’s art is perfect: gorgeous and brimming with style, technique, and full of that same cool that oozes from Godard’s masterpiece. We’re gigantic fans of Yuko’s, and looking forward to all that is to come from her this year.
