Review – Eternity: The Last Unicorn, Norse Mythology with classic mechanics

What is the game about? This action RPG inspired by tales from Norse Mythology with classic game mechanics by Void Studios is about elves who were gifted 4 unicorns which in time gave them immortality. One day, evil took over the land and the unicorns suddenly disappeared. Only one unicorn was found but it was cursed and had a broken horn. You play as the young female elve named Aurehen. According to ancient scrolls is the only one who can lift the curse.

In the game, you fight evil monsters, upgrade your weapon, skills, and craft various items to help you during your journey. You have two playable characters, the elve Aurehen and Bior the Viking.

This game was created around the idea of old school RPG games such as the ones that were released for PS1. If you are not into old school games then this game isn’t for you. If by chance you do like old school games than, this game is for you. It has a fixed camera, which means you are not able to control it yourself. Because of this, in my opinion, it becomes annoying during fights. I supposed I’m so used the newer advanced one we have today. I think the fixed camera, should be an option to have during the game. The graphics are not bad, I didn’t mind the graphics. eternity-696×391 The save points are another thing that reminds you of an old school game, so if you don’t want to lose all of your progress, I suggest for you to save as often as you can because it doesn’t automatically save for you. Another fixed thing in the game is the path, the game doesn’t give you many options to roam around and have to follow the paths given to you. I understand that it’s not a sandbox game, but I feel like the developers should have given us more room to roam around it is extremely limited.

When playing the game, things seemed a bit confusing to me. It does have a tutorial but was on how to fight your enemies and how to uncurse bodies to earn currency.

You had to figure things out on your own, at least is what I thought for a while. Later in the game, it teaches you more necessary things. The game still has bugs that need be fixed. Void Studios recently released an update that fixed a few of them such, during the middle of a large group of enemies you had to defeat, the character would pick up dropped items. In time I’m sure they will fix all the issues the game currently seems to have. As of today (4/16/209), the game is out on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

What would I rate this game? I like to play the newer advanced, high tech games so I would rate it a low score of 3.

If they had released the game back when PS1 was around, then I know I would have loved to play this game and would have rated it a higher score. But unfortunately, that is not the case.
