Hello, Indie TCG lovers! Today, we dive into the world of Gem Blenders, a captivating card game created by Steve Sekula, an artist and game designer based in Brooklyn, NY. From a young age, Sekula’s passion for trading card games led him to create numerous homemade games on the backside of business cards. Rather than outgrowing his obsession, he decided to take it to the next level. As he explored the combinations of gems, the Gem Blenders card game began to take shape.

In 2019, Sekula and his team launched their first Kickstarter campaign to print the beta version of the cards. Despite facing challenges during the pandemic, they persevered and used these cards to host local events in NYC and travel to conventions across the country. In 2023, Gem Blenders returned to Kickstarter with a reinvigorated design, successfully funding the first edition print run as a full-fledged TCG.

Gem Blenders represents the creativity of lo-fi art, the inclusivity of trading cards, and the joy of in-person connections. While gems are part of everyday life for all inhabitants of Gemlandia, only a select few possess the gift of combining the energies of multiple gems to unleash powerful transformations known as blends. These individuals are revered as Gem Blenders, and gem blending plays a crucial role in the culture and economy of the different states.
