How to Play

In Chrono Core, players take on the role of mech pilots, assembling their decks with a combination of Pilot and Core cards, equipment, weapons, configurations, and support cards. The game centers around a strategic deck-building process that enhances replayability and customization. Here’s a quick overview of how to play:

  1. Deck Building: Players start by selecting a Pilot and Core card. Each card has a designated chassis type—Light, Mid, or Heavy—that must match the corresponding equipment cards you include in your deck. This adds a layer of strategy as you consider how to build around your chosen Pilot’s strengths.
  2. Game Setup: After building your deck, you’ll place your Pilot, Core, and starting equipment into play. Each player draws five cards from their deck and can mulligan up to five, reshuffling them back into the deck.
  3. Turn Phases:
    • Reset Phase: Adjust your Max Core Charge based on your equipment, setting your Current Core Charge to match.
    • Draw Phase: Draw one card, with the option to void one card from your hand.
    • Main Phase: Play equipment, weapons, configurations, or support cards by paying the Core Charge cost.
    • Attack Subphase: Declare an attack using a weapon. You can trigger any “On Attack” abilities before your opponent has a chance to counter. Calculate damage based on the weapon’s base damage and any bonuses, deducting any shield damage your opponent may have.
  4. Victory Condition: The objective is to reduce your opponent’s life to zero by strategically attacking and defending using your cards. Players will go back and forth, battling it out in an engaging tactical showdown until one pilot stands victorious!

The dynamic energy system means that your Max Core Charge increases as you upgrade equipment, keeping gameplay fresh and engaging.
