WizKids is excited to announce that Europa Base Alpha, a tense game of interstellar construction, is coming soon!
In this thrilling intergalactic race for dominance, players will compete to build the most monumental network of bases on Europa, Jupiter’s moon. To achieve this goal, players will use dice and cards to build their bases by rolling the needed resources! The cards are used in a variety of ways: they can help you or be used to hamper the construction of bases of the other players.
Each round, players will simultaneously play a base card facedown, flipping all of them over at the same time.
Then, starting with the player who has been selected to go first, players may play one or more cards from their hand next to another player’s base card. These cards, called Undermining Cards, will make it more difficult for that player to build their base. After each player has either played an Undermining Card or passed, players will roll their dice and try to use the result to successfully build their base. One of the symbols on the dice, the star, acts as a wild symbol, and may be used to represent any other symbol.
These dice must be used and may not be rerolled. Each star used during a round grants a Cut Corner token, which will negatively affect that player’s score. Cards may also be played to assist in this effort. If a player fails to build their base, the base card is discarded.
The game ends when either 4 (in a 2 or 4 player game) or 3 (in a 3 player game) rounds have passed. Players will total the points from all built Bases and subtract any points indicated by Cut Corner tokens earned during the game. The player with the most points wins! Europa Base Alpha releases in June 2019, so head to your Friendly Local Game Store and pre-order today!
