What is Magi-Nation Duel?
Magi-Nation Duel is a fantasy card game set in the Moonlands. Each region within the Moonlands has its own strengths and specialties, allowing for countless unique combinations and strategies for each deck. In the game, players control three spellcasters known as Magi who use energy to summon dream creatures, cast powerful spells, and equip mystical relics. The Moonlands is divided into several regions, each representing and specializing in certain elements or parts of nature. From the verdant forests of Naroom to the underwater kingdom of Orothe and the mountain peaks of Kybar’s Teen, the Magi of these regions battle against the dark forces of the Core and their shadow Magi – Magi corrupted by the dark powers lurking at the center of their world.
The Magi Nation storyline developed across each card set, introducing new regions, Magi, and mysteries. The “Traitor’s Reach” set was designed to follow in the wake of a massive battle that freed the besieged region of Naroom from the clutches of the Shadow Magi. However, that set was never released… until now.
Now, let’s dive into the gameplay. The objective of the game is to defeat all of the Magi in your opponent’s Magi stack. In Magi-Nation Duel, you defeat an opponent’s Magi when: 1. That Magi has no creatures in play and 2. The Magi has no energy. To achieve this, you’ll use your own creatures and spells to strategically attack your opponent’s forces. When one Magi is defeated, the next Magi enters the fray. Defeat all three of your opponents’ Magi, and you emerge victorious.
Magi-Nation Duel features four types of cards: Magi, creatures, relics, and spells. During gameplay, players have distinct locations for their deck, discard pile, creatures, and Magi and relics. To determine who goes first, each player rolls a six-sided die, and the player with the higher roll gets to decide. If playing multiplayer, the gameplay moves clockwise from the person who goes first.
A turn in Magi-Nation Duel consists of several steps. It’s important to note that a turn refers to the steps taken by an individual player, not once around the table like in some games. The six steps of a turn are as follows: 1. Energize, 2. Powers/Relics/Spells, 3. Attack, 4. Play new creatures, 5. Powers/Relics/Spells, 6. Draw.
Magi-Nation Duel offers an immersive and strategic gameplay experience set in a rich fantasy world. If you’re a fan of Indie TCGs, don’t miss the opportunity to explore the Moonlands and embark on epic duels. Check out the Kickstarter campaign for Magi-Nation Duel and join the adventure today!
